325 degrees
Chop dates. Mix dates in pan with water and sugar. Cook on low heat, mashing dates until thick. Remove immediately.
Sift flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Mix in oats.
Pat half of crumb mixture in 8" x 8" x 2" greased square pan. Spread date filling over the dough. Then top with remaining crumb mixture. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes until golden and puffy. Take out of oven and let cool. Cut into 1 1⁄2” squares.
